Sensory Activity For Kids:

Pouring station

This is a low or no cost activity that my kids enjoy doing. They both like pouring and water play and you can use whatever equipment you have.

This activity is great for when you have no energy left, and you just want the kids to keep themselves busy for a few minutes.

This activity is inspired by ideas from Pouring station.

This activity is great to teach your kids:

Hand eye coordination activities help kids use their hands (and muscles) and eyes at the same time. When the two work together, young children begin to increase their ability to pick up, grasp, and manipulate objects.

Fine motor skills involve movement of the smaller muscle groups in your child's hands, fingers, and wrists.

Developing fine motor skills will help your child to write and prepares her for school. But it will also help your children with everyday tasks like eating, and dressing themselves.

Sensory play is play that involves all the senses - taste, sound, sight, touch and smell. Sensory play is very beneficial to children. Research shows that sensory play builds nerve connections in the brain’s pathways, which lead to the child’s ability to complete more complex learning tasks. Sensory play is also very relaxing and rejuvenating to children.

Step 1

Gather all the supplies

Step 2

Add the cups and jugs to the plastic tray and fill some jugs with colored water.

Step 3

Show your kids how to pour and play

This pouring station activity kept my kids busy for 30 minutes.

It was an easy to setup kids activity with little supplies needed (you can use things that you have at home).

My daughter preferred the smaller pouring jug while my preschooler boy used the bigger jar. We extended the activity to make colddrink in the big pitcher, then we could drink it while my kids learned to pour.

It was a fun and easy activity and one we will do again.

There’s nothing better than a pouring station. It’s simple. It’s easy. It’s basically free and it’s can keep a toddler entertained for so long.
