Indoor Activity For Kids:

Velcro blending

I like this activity because you get to make a fun educational toy for your kids and you only need a few supplies to make it. This activity teaches your child the basics of reading by getting to know sight words.

This activity is inspired by ideas from Velcro blending.

This activity is great to teach your kids:

Literacy includes reading, writing, and speaking. It is the basis of any child’s learning.

Literacy skills can be taught from baby age with playful games and activities, and continues to be taught at school age where literacy instruction is more formal than just play.

Step 1

Gather all the supplies

Step 2

Choose a few sight words to work on. 3 letter words are best.

Step 3

Write each sight word on a paper plate, leaving out the first letter

Step 4

Write the beginning letters of each word on 1 piece of front Velcro

Step 5

Stick a dot of velcro on the paper plate where the first letter would be.

Step 6

Show your kids how to play

Then I wrote the letters that would fit in that space to make a word on cardboard and Velcroed them to the bottom of the page.
