Indoor Activity For Kids:

Bead threading fine motor math activity

This activity is a fun way to teach addition (math) to your kids. You only need beads and pipe cleaners and they can play with the beads and pipe cleaners in different ways. You can add different amounts of beads to each end of the pipe cleaner and they can add the numbers together or they can add the beads to the pipe cleaners themselves. Great for fine motor skills and addition (early math skills).

This activity is inspired by ideas from Bead threading fine motor math activity.

This activity is great to teach your kids:

Math activities include counting, patterning, sizes and sorting and can be taught with fun and easy to play games and activities.

Cognitive activities is educational play and is vital for your toddler's cognitive development – that is, your child's ability to think, understand, communicate, make memories, imagine and work out what might happen next.

Fine motor skills involve movement of the smaller muscle groups in your child's hands, fingers, and wrists.

Developing fine motor skills will help your child to write and prepares her for school. But it will also help your children with everyday tasks like eating, and dressing themselves.

Step 1

Gather all the supplies

Step 2

Twist a few pipe cleaners to form a loop with two ends.

Step 3

Add a few beads to each pipe cleaner ends. Or ask your kids to add beads to the pipe cleaners

This is a really good activity for over 3s. If your child is under 3 you must supervise this activity really well or not do it with young kids, as beads are a choking hazard.

But my preschooler enjoyed learning about addition with the help of the pipe cleaners and beads. I told him we can play with it every night when his 2 year old sister is asleep.

Fine motor and math is such a fun combination. It turns math into a fun and hands-on activity. What could be better? This Bead Threading Fine Motor Addition activity does just that.
